This is truly the Ultimate Blue Motorcycle Drink!  The sweet and sour citrus flavors are so well balanced that you won’t notice how strong this beautiful blue cocktail actually is.  I think that is why it is also known as the Adios drink or the AMF Drink.  It is a very potent but refreshing drink that reminds me of a blue Long Island Iced Tea.  You won’t taste the alcohol but you absolutely will feel it!

Two tall glasses of a blue cocktail with lemon slices and maraschino cherry garnish and half lemons, oranges and a bowl of cherries around them.

The Blue Motorcycle is an easy-to-make, colorful drink with an unusual name.  I am not sure why it is called a Blue Motorcycle, but I can guess how it got its other name (adios motherfucker)! This delicious cocktail really delivers a punch!  Similar to a Long Island Iced Tea, there are equal parts of 5 different liquors in this drink, so it is a pretty strong cocktail!  Its high alcohol content will definitely get the party going!

This is the perfect cocktail to enjoy throughout the warmer months. The citrusy flavor from the sweet and sour mix and the lemon-lime soda make this tangy drink a delicious way to cool down on hot summer days.

Ingredients You Need for this Blue Motorcycle Recipe

  • Blue curaçao gives this cocktail its beautiful blue color and adds an orange essence. Other spirits in this cocktail include Vodka, Gin, White Rum, and Silver Tequila.
  • Lemon-lime soda and sour mix, help to disguise the alcohol and make it seem like you are enjoying a refreshing citrusy beverage rather than an alcoholic drink.
  • Secure lemon slices and maraschino cherries with a cocktail pick for a festive garnish.

How To Make this Blue Motorcycle Cocktail Recipe

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes, add the vodka, gin, rum, tequila, blue curacao and sour mix, cover and shake vigorously.
  2. Fill a tall bar glass or highball glass 3/4 of the way up with ice.  Using a strainer pour the liquor mixture into the glass and top with the lemon lime soda.
  3. Stir and garnish with a lemon wheel and a maraschino cherry.

Can I Make a Pitcher of Blue Motorcycles?

Preparing for a party or a summer barbecue?  This is one of my favorite cocktail recipes to make by the pitcher.  Use the recipe multiplier function in the recipe card. Mix all of the ingredients except the lemon-lime soda in a pitcher.  Set the pitcher and a bottle of lemon lime soda on your bar. Let your guests pour their own drink and top it with the soda.  Make sure to provide a warning that this fun blue beverage is one of the strongest cocktails they will ever have!

Storing Leftover Mixed Cocktails

If you haven’t added the soda to a batch of already mixed cocktails, you can store leftovers in an airtight container or bottle and refrigerate them for a couple of days. If soda has been added already, it will go flat as it sits in the refrigerator.

FAQ’s

Is a Blue Motorcycle the same as a Blue Hawaiian?

There are a number of different blue drinks out there.  Although they are similar, the Blue Hawaiian is made with pineapple juice and does not contain gin, white tequila or any soda.  They taste distinctly different and the Blue Motorcycle has a bubbly twist that you don’t get with the Blue Hawaiian.

What is Blue Curacao?

Curaçao is a liquor that is flavored with the peel of a bitter orange lahara, which is a citrus fruit grown on the Island of Curaçao.  Curaçao comes in different versions and the blue version has food coloring added to give it a bright blue hue.  The blue version of curaçao is also lower in alcohol content (between 20%-25%) then other versions.
